Migaloo Back on the Cairns Great Barrier Reef

Migaloo the world’s only all white Humpback Whale has been spotted, and this time photographed, on the Great Barrier Reef out of Port Douglas. Seen earlier this morning by the crew and guests aboard Calypso Reef Cruises, Migaloo was surfacing for a breath of fresh air and to enjoy the tropical, winter sunshine.
Reef Encounter Departs Cairns

Reef Encounter departed the waters of Cairns Great Barrier Reef this week, headed for the oilfields of Western Australia. Coral Sea – World’s Largest Marine Park

Australia will be world leaders in ocean protection, when it finalises plans for its 44 new marine reserves, including the 1.3 million sq km Coral Sea reserve. Plans were officially announced by Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke, earlier this month.

Scientists from the University of Sydney have said they believe sea cucumber poo could help save coral reefs from the impacts of climate change.
