New Reef Day Tour Boat

ReefQuest started operations this week, making it one of the newest additions to Cairns’ Great Barrier Reef day tour fleet. Run by the crew at Deep Sea Divers Den, who have been providing guests with snorkel, dive and learn to dive trips since 1974, ReefQuest has been purpose built for diving and snorkelling.

This brand new, luxury reef day tour boat is fresh off the slips and is fully equipped with modern, state of the art facilities. ReefQuest is 24m long with a 9m beam. She has two levels of air-conditioned interior, three exterior sundecks and a large and spacious dive deck.

Licensed to carry up to 125 passengers, day tour numbers aboard ReefQuest will be limited to just 80 guests, ensuring there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and make the most of their Outer Great Barrier Reef experience.

Where does ReefQuest go?

It all depends on the day. Deep Sea Divers Den have access to 17 exclusive moorings on the Outer Great Barrier Reef. All of the sites are about 70km offshore from Cairns and each day the best places will be selected, to maximise experience, pending weather and conditions. Some of the places the crew can choose from include Norman Reef, Saxon Reef and Hastings Reef.

This fast, comfortable vessel has a travel time to and from the reef of about 90 minutes. This gives guests up to five (5) hours to swim, snorkel, dive and just enjoy the majestic beauty of the amazing Great Barrier Reef.

ReefQuest visits two (2) different locations each day and has some great inclusions in its standard day tour price, including: free use of dive / snorkel equipment; free guided snorkelling tour; free use of wetsuits and lycra suits; morning tea and a tropical buffet lunch; fresh chilled water throughout the day and tea and coffee when stationary.
What do you need to bring, other than yourself and a smile! Hat, towel, swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses and money for souvenirs.

Who does it suit?

ReefQuest caters to swimmers, snorkelers and divers of all experience levels, including those wanting to try diving for the first time (introductory diving – no experience necessary). Certified divers, please note that all equipment is included in the dive price, but you will be required to show your dive certification card and complete an onboard medical questionnaire. Also, diving is unguided but you can hire a dive guide on the day, at $15 per person, per dive.
