Pro Dive Cairns are one of the pioneers of diver training in Cairns. Offering a 3 Day 2 Night PADI Referral Course that allows you to finish your 4 open water certification dives plus an additional 5 dives as a Certified Diver to practise what you have learnt, including 1 guided night dive. Complete your Referral Course on one of three Scuba Pro vessels, custom designed and built for diving with twin/ double accommodation, an ample dive deck, top sun deck and providing you with high quality dive equipment including prescription masks if required.
With dive sites on the Outer Reefs Pellowe, Flynn, Milln and Thetford you will have the chance to experience the marine bio diversity that makes up the Great Barrier Reef. You may be lucky enough to see turtles, sweet lips, white tipped reef sharks and the ever popular ‘nemo’ or anemone fish.
This PADI Referral Course contains all you need including your PADI Gold Open Water Certification, Dive Log Book, passport photos and Dive Insurance. Complimentary return transfers from Cairns City accommodation, all meals, free Wi-Fi and linen onboard. All you will need to do is bring your towel. Please note to complete your Ocean Referral Course you will need to have your referral paperwork with you, as issued and signed by the Dive Instructor who completed your pool & theory training.
NOTE: An Australian Dive Medical may be required to be completed prior to / in conjunction with this course. This is an additional cost and can be undertaken locally at several Cairns doctors / medical clinics. Contact us for more information.

Itinerary:
The itinerary for Pro Dive Cairns’ 3 Day 2 Night Ocean Referral includes your 4 open water certification dives and 5 ‘fun’ dives as a certified diver which includes 1 guided night dive.
DAY 1 – GREAT BARRIER REEF:
Today is the day you head to the Outer Great Barrier Reef, to complete your training dives and become a certified diver! You will spend the next 3 days at sea, so pack your luggage. All meals, accommodation and linen is included, but you should bring at least two towels with you (one for the dive deck and one for showers at night). It’s an early start with a 5.45am coach pick-up and 6.15am check-in at the Pro Dive retail store, before boarding the Scubapro vessel for a 7am departure. Enjoy a light breakfast on board and settle in to your cabin quarters on the outward journey, you’ll be in the water before you know it. At 11.30am you enter the water for your first training dive with your professional, qualified instructor right there to assist and calm your nerves. Afterwards, it’s back to the boat for a hearty lunch and then back into the water for your second training dive: there are four to complete before you are certified. Dinner is served at 6pm and there is plenty of time afterwards to relax and unwind with dive buddies.
DAY 2 – GREAT BARRIER REEF:
This morning begins with the deepest dive of your training and it’s an early start at 7am. A hearty cooked breakfast of bacon and eggs is served afterwards, as you prepare for your final training dive at 10.30am. Celebrate being a certified diver over lunch and then it’s back into the water, where you can enjoy your first, certified, pleasure dive on the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy the freedom of exploring the Great Barrier Reef with your dive buddy sans instructor, it’s an amazing experience. Dinner is served at 6pm and afterwards there is the choice of taking a guided night dive. These are a completely different experience to diving during the day time and definitely worth taking advantage of.
DAY 3 – GREAT BARRIER REEF:
It’s your last day of scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, so start early with a 6.30am dive. During breakfast, Pro Dive Cairns’ Scubapro boat makes its way to the last dive site of your trip. Your last dive is completed at 11am and this afternoon you return to Cairns, with complimentary transfers back to your accommodation in the city or Cairns Northern Beaches at 4pm. It is a tradition that Instructors and newly qualified divers meet up for dinner that night at a local restaurant. This is not included in the price and is completely optional, but it’s a great way to wrap up the most amazing and life changing course you may ever undertake. This completes your 3 Day 2 Night Ocean Referral.
Diving:
PLEASE NOTE: That you may be required to complete and pass an Australian Dive Medical first before starting a scuba diving course. Please note that some medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes and heart conditions) will preclude you from learning to dive. For more information, please visit the Dive Medical page.
This PADI Ocean Referral Course is suitable for those people who have already successfully passed the pool and theory training and have the relevant paperwork demonstrating this, signed by your Dive Instructor. The Referral Course provides you with PADI Gold Open Water Certification that is internationally recognised, all the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need, to dive anywhere in the world to a maximum depth of 18m, when diving with a buddy. All PADI certification costs are included in the course cost. At completion you are not certified for solo diving or deep diving.
Snorkeling:
This is a learn to dive course. You can try snorkeling between dives but in general, most people just dive.

Had a fantastic time diving the outer reefs from Cairns on Pro-Dive Cairns, organisation was great, well organised. We found a large array of sea life, including touching sharks and sea turtles, rays etc. everyone involved just made the whole process run smoothly from start to finish

Great trip. Lots of great photo and video ops. Cairns Dive Adventures staff were very helpful; they arranged for the camera to be dropped off at our hotel since we were arriving on the weekend. Overall, wonderful experience.

Remember to try any form of scuba diving everyone needs to be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. PADI recommends allowing up to 24 hours after diving before flying in an airplane. Some tour operators have a no refund policy for any dives not completed for whatever reason. Please note the art of freediving is not permitted on any of the day boats or liveaboard dive boats from Cairns & Port Douglas. With the high instances of (shallow water blackout) companies do not allow this for safety reasons.
Do you have Medical Issues:
Please note if you have any medical issues you will need to go see your local GP where you live and get them to write you a letter on the practice letterhead signed and dated by your doctor that you are “Fit to dive” If you have one of these letters then all dive companies in Cairns will take you diving. Please note these letters are only valid for three months from their date of issue.
Remember to learn to dive you must be able to swim, you must be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. If you are over the ages of 45 years, then you will need an Australian Standards AS4005.1 Dive Medial. PADI recommends allowing 24 hours after diving before flying in an airplane
Important Note: (Dive Medical) Student Diver Medical Declaration and Dive Medical (if required) must be completed within 90 days of commencement of your learn to dive course. Download print and read the Student Diver Medical Declaration.
