The Aqua Quest 2-Day PADI Advanced Dive Course you will enjoy 2 one day trips to the Great Barrier Reef! Departing Cairns at 8:30am and returning to Cairns at 4:30pm each day. This course can be completed on a Wednesday & Thursday or a Saturday & Sunday.
The trip includes full dive gear, all training dives and buffet lunch with morning and afternoon tea each day. The course gives you a total of 5 Advanced Course PADI training dives with 1 fun dive to be had at the end of your course. (Sometimes you may need to use your fun dive to re-do one of the training dives if the instructor thinks you need a little more training).
Enjoy the outer reef systems diving on Norman, Saxon and Hastings reef systems. The boat will visit two reef sites and offers beautiful diving in shallow coral gardens with gentle sloping walls and larger overhanging drop offs. On completion of this course you will have your PADI Advanced Dive Certification.
Remember you must already have your PADI Open Water Dive Certification to be able to join this course. Please also note to continue your diving education everyone must be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. If you are over the age of 45 years you maybe required to see your local doctor and get them to write you a letter on the practice letter head signed and dated by your doctor that you are fit to dive.

Itinerary:
Check in happens directly on the boat Aqua Quest located at B-Finger Marlin Marina Cairns at 8:00am.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided at check in and the boat sets off at 8:30am. Travel time to the reef is just over 1 hour and 15 minutes. On the journey to the reef you will meet your PADI dive instructor and be show and set up with all your dive and snorkel gear.
Once you arrive at the dive sites you will gear up, go thru all your safety briefings and enter the water with a giant stride entry from the side of the boat. There is a large wide step for easy access when returning from your dives. You can complete a total of 3 x dives per day on this 2 day course.
The boat will spend around 2.5 hours at each reef site before retuning to Cairns at 4:30pm.
Diving:
The PADI Advanced Dive course will allow you to dive down to a maximum depth of 30 meters. This is one of the main advantages of obtaining the PADI advanced certification.
The trip includes full dive gear like snorkel, fins, masks, lycra suits, wet suits, BCD, regulator and dive computers. You dive instructor will take you thru all the steps to complete your PADI Advanced Diver Certification.
Water entry is from the side of the boat with a giant stride entry from about 1.5 meters. The dives sites are open water dive sites in general with mild current, shallow coral gardens, with gentle sloping walls in the deeper water.
Divers can expect fantastic customer service with a wunnerful buffet for lunch, trip also includes morning and afternoon tea, fresh water and tea and coffee.
There are three mandatory specialty dives for the PADI Advanced Dive Course:
1. Navigation
2. Peak Performance Buoyancy
3. Deep Dive
You can then choose two specialty dives from the list below:
1. Boat Dive
2. Fish ID
3. Search & Recovery
Snorkeling:
This day boat will have snorkelers on the boat, you will have a little bit of time to snorkel between dives but in general this course will keep you busy diving.

Aqua Quest is the newest addition to the Deep Sea Divers Den fleet, commencing Cairns Great Barrier Reef day tour operations in December 2015. This brand new boat is fully equipped with the latest dive and snorkel equipment and provides guests with up to five (5) hours at the reef and the chance to do three (3) scuba dives and snorkelling.

Remember to try any form of scuba diving everyone needs to be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. PADI recommends allowing up to 24 hours after diving before flying in an airplane. Some tour operators have a no refund policy for any dives not completed for whatever reason. Please note the art of freediving is not permitted on any of the day boats or liveaboard dive boats from Cairns & Port Douglas. With the high instances of (shallow water blackout) companies do not allow this for safety reasons.
Do you have Medical Issues:
Please note if you have any medical issues you will need to go see your local GP where you live and get them to write you a letter on the practice letterhead signed and dated by your doctor that you are “Fit to dive” If you have one of these letters then all dive companies in Cairns will take you diving. Please note these letters are only valid for three months from their date of issue.
Please Note: Once you have finished your 5 x certification dives your fun dive is unguided. This gives you the freedom to buddy up with another certified diver on the boat and explore the reef in your own buddy pairs. Please note you can get a dive guide if you wish they do charge $20 per person per dive. This can be organized on the boat.
