Final Thoughts
There is no single “best” place to see the Great Barrier Reef for everyone — the right location depends on how much time you have, how close you want to be to the reef, and whether you plan to snorkel, dive, or do a bit of both.
As this video explains, Cairns stands out as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef thanks to its close proximity to the Outer Reef, wide range of tour options, and easy access for first-time visitors. Port Douglas and the Whitsundays can also be great choices depending on your travel style and priorities.
If you’re unsure which region or reef tour is right for you, our team is always happy to help you choose the option that best matches your experience level and travel plans.
