These full day tours provide up to 3.5 hours at the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs, with lots of inclusions such as snorkelling equipment, semi-submersible tours, fish feeding and underwater observatory. Quicksilver is one of Australia’s most awarded reef tour operators and has Advanced Ecotourism and Climate Action accreditation from Ecotourism Australia.

The Agincourt Ribbon Reefs are located on the continental shelf, which means generally clear waters and good visibility year round. The Quicksilver pontoon is permanently moored just metres from the reef, with easy accessibility for both snorkelers and divers. Water entry is via submerged steps and platforms and a range of buoyancy devices are provided to those who need them. The spacious pontoon has undercover seating, showers and change rooms: it is also the base for all optional extra activities which include guided snorkel tours, helmet diving, scenic helicopter flights and introductory and certified scuba diving. There are lifeguards on duty at the pontoon, watching over the snorkelling area.

Quicksilver’s 45.5m wavepiercer catamaran is one of the largest in the day tour fleet and provides a superior and comfortable ride to the reef. It has three (3) levels of air-conditioned interior and exterior seating. Morning and afternoon tea is served on the boat and a hot and cold buffet lunch is served on the pontoon. The pontoon is also home to the only post box on the Great Barrier Reef, now there is a postmark to remember! This trip is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, including families and non-swimmers.

Check-in for Quicksilver Cruises Outer Great Barrier Reef day tour is at their Marina Mirage offices, Port Douglas, from 9.30am. Boarding is at the boat, a short stroll away, with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits served on arrival. Departure is scheduled for 10am and all briefings are provided during your transfer to Agincourt Ribbon Reefs. Travel time is approximately 90-minutes.

Arriving at the pontoon around 11.30am you have 3.5 hours to swim, explore and enjoy the Great Barrier Reef. A hot and cold buffet lunch is served on the pontoon from 12-1.30pm. Lunch includes a selection of meats, salads, seafood and bread rolls. Complimentary semi-submersible tours occur throughout the day and the underwater observatory is open for your convenience. You can snorkel as much as you want (guided tours need to be pre-booked) and there is the chance to do two (2) scuba dives. The boat departs the reef around 3pm, arriving back into Port Douglas’ Marina Mirage at 4.30pm.

Diving:

Quicksilver offers introductory (no experience necessary) and certified diving. All diving is an optional extra to the standard tour price and all diving is guided. Water entry is very easy via submerged steps on to a platform, with drop lines down to 5m and another platform. Please note: all divers will be required to complete a medical questionnaire on board, prior to diving. All equipment required is included in the dive price EXCEPT lycra or wetsuits, which can be hired on-board the boat.

INTRODUCTORY DIVES: If you are 12-years-old or over and can swim, then you can try an introductory scuba dive aboard Quicksilver Cruises. The outer reef pontoon provides a sheltered location to try diving and water entry is via submerged steps with drop lines taking you to a submerged platform at 5m. No experience is necessary and all equipment and training is provided. You will need to complete a dive medical questionnaire on board the boat. There is the option to take one (1) or two (2) introductory dives on this trip.

CERTIFIED DIVING: Certified divers can book one (1) or two (2) scuba dives at the Quicksilver Cruises Agincourt Reef pontoon: the first dive is at 12pm and the second at 1.40pm. All dives are guided and maximum depth for the day will be 14m. You can expect to see a range of hard and soft corals and marine life. Water visibility is generally good at this site: averaging 10m. You will be required to show your Divers License and complete Dive Medical paperwork on board, prior to diving. Equipment and dive site briefings are all provided on board the boat.

Snorkeling:

Snorkelling has never been so safe and easy. A range of buoyancy devices are included in the tour price (noodles and vests) and there is a qualified lifeguard on duty over the snorkelling area. Water entry is via submerged steps, with an in-water platform for you to put on and take off your fins. Quicksilver’s pontoon is permanently moored just metres from its Agincourt Reef site, so it’s just a short swim before you are over the corals and surrounded by fish. Lycra or wetsuits can be hired from the boat and there is the option to take guided snorkel tours (an optional extra to the standard tour price).

This was one of the best tours we`ve ever taken. The snorkel and diving sites were awe-inspiring – better than being in the best aquarium of the world. The crew was very engaging as well as informative. Not only did we have the best time, we`ve also learned a lot. Unforgettable experience!
