This dive course is based in Port Douglas and only starts on Tuesdays

Quicksilver dive are the newest PADI dive training centre to open in Port Douglas. Quicksilver Cruises have more than 20 years experience carrying passengers to the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas.

The opening of the brand new Quicksilver Dive training centre in Port Douglas, allows you to complete a PADI 4-Day learn to dive course with all Ocean Open Water dives completed on the Agincourt Ribbon Reef systems. These reefs are regarded as some of the best diving reefs from Port Douglas.

On day one and day two you will complete classroom and swimming pool training. All dive course materials and dive gear are included. Remember to bring a change of clothes and a towel.

Day three and day four are spent on either the day dive boat Silversonic or Poseidon. Both dive boats visit the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs. These reef locations offer some of the best diving available on the Great Barrier Reef. The day boats depart Port Douglas Marina at 8:30 am and return at 4:30 pm.

Highlights for learning to scuba dive in Port Douglas: This dive course includes a total of 6 dives, 4-Open Water Training dives plus 2 x Fun Dives guided by your instructor. You will have the same dive instructor for all 4 days. This course includes morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch each day, it also includes all dive gear and learning material.

Things you need to know about learning to Scuba Dive in Port Douglas: Remember to try any form of scuba diving you must be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. You must also be able to swim.

PADI recommends allowing up to 24 hours after diving before flying in an airplane. Please keep this in mind if you are booking flights after your learn to dive course.

If you are over the age of 45 years by law, you are required to complete the Australian Standard Dive Medical AS4005.1. A dive medical can be obtained by Port Village Medical Centre, Port Village, Macrossan St, Port Douglas – Phone 07 4099 5043. You should make reservations in advance. Otherwise, contact your local GP where you live to arrange this in advance before arriving in Port Douglas.

For those that are fit and healthy, you will complete a dive medical questionnaire on the first day. As long as you pass you are good to start your dive course.

Itinerary:

This 4-Day PADI learn to dive course only starts on Tuesdays and you need to make your own way to the dive training center located at – 19 Warner St, Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia.

DAY – 01 & 02:

Classroom theory and swimming pool training: The first two days are spent learning all the important safety aspects of scuba diving, pressure groups, dive tables, emergency ascents, and much more. Your highly experienced dive instructor will take you thru all the steps to becoming a certified open water diver.

DAY – 03 & 04:

Reef Ocean Training Dives: All dives are on the Agincourt reefs where you will complete your 4 open water training dives and once you are certified and have passed your training diving you can then enjoy 2 fun dives. All dives are guided by your professional dive instructor.

All course material is supplied along with all dive gear like BCD, Regs, Snorkel, Fins, Mask, Wetsuit and Dive Computer. Morning/afternoon tea and lunch are included on all 4 days.

This course only starts on Tuesdays in Port Douglas.

Diving:

The first 4 open water training dives are completed on the Agincourt Reefs. Guided by your instructor you will need to complete all the skills you have learnt in the classroom and swimming pool.

Once you have completed your 4 open water training dives you will then be a certified open water diver. You can then enjoy two more fun dives with your instructor down to 18 meters.

All dives are completed on Silversonic or Poseidon dive boats. They both depart Port Douglas at 8:30 am and return at 4:30 pm.

Agincourt reef offers World Class diving, with beautiful large coral gardens all with many different species of soft and hard corals. You can expect to find hundreds of different marine animals like sea turtles, giant clams, cuttlefish, mauri wrasse, white tip reef sharks, yellowtail reef fish and much more.

Snorkeling:

You can snorkel after you have completed all your dives if there is enough time.

Tour Notes:

Remember to try any form of scuba diving everyone needs to be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. PADI recommends allowing up to 24 hours after diving before flying in an airplane. Some tour operators have a no refund policy for any dives not completed for whatever reason. Please note the art of freediving is not permitted on any of the day boats or liveaboard dive boats from Cairns & Port Douglas. With the high instances of (shallow water blackout) companies do not allow this for safety reasons.

Do you have Medical Issues:

Please note if you have any medical issues you will need to go see your local GP where you live and get them to write you a letter on the practice letterhead signed and dated by your doctor that you are “Fit to dive” If you have one of these letters then all dive companies in Cairns will take you diving. Please note these letters are only valid for three months from their date of issue.
