Pure Snorkel is a half-day reef tour that has just launched in Cairns. It is a modern, state-of-the-art, high-speed twin-hull vessel that will take passengers on a half-day adventure to either Sudbury Cay, Briggs Reef, Moore Reef, Thetford Reef, Upolo Reef, Pretty Patches, Oyster Reef, and Breaking Patches. It is designed for those who are short on time or who do not really want to spend a full day at the reef.
The boat has a modern twin-hull design with a front landing deck and a rear stepping deck, making it very easy to get in and out of the water. Pure Snorkel has reef permits on some magnificent snorkel sites, including Sudbury Cay, Briggs Reef, Moore Reef, Thetford Reef, Upolo Reef, Pretty Patches, Oyster Reef, and Breaking Patches.
The skipper will choose the reef sites to visit based on the weather conditions that day. Passengers can enjoy up to two hours of snorkeling time, with all equipment provided, such as a high-quality snorkel, fins, mask, and lycra suit. Refreshments are served at the end of the day just before the journey back to Cairns.
Departing Cains at 12:30 pm and returning to Cairns at around 5:30 pm, this half day snorkel tour is perfect for those on a Cruise Ship, those that want a late start, or those that really only want to snorkel and not to be with scuba divers. Check in time is at 11:45am directly on the boat which is docked at D-Finger Marlin Marina Cairns.

Itinerary:
You can check in directly onto the boat at 11:45 a.m. The boat is docked at D-Finger Marlin Marina Cairns. After a boat safety briefing, an explanation of how the tour will proceed, and all safety requirements, the boat departs Cairns at 12:20 p.m.
Enjoy the exhilarating ride of four 350-horsepower V10 engines propelling you forward at around 22 knots. The journey takes a little over 50 minutes to arrive at your destination. Upon arrival at the reef, the boat crew will tie the boat up safely in place and give you a site briefing.
The crew will lower the step platform into the water, and from here, you will enter and explore the magnificent natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.
Enjoy over two hours of snorkelling time, with plenty of time to return to the boat, grab a cup of cold water, and then explore the reef some more.
At around 4:00 pm, the crew prepares the boat for the homeward journey. Light refreshments are served while everybody returns to the boat and takes their seats, ready for the journey back to Cairns.
Returning to Cairns at 5:30 p.m., this half-day snorkel tour from Cairns is an exciting, fun-filled way to spend the afternoon exploring the Great Barrier Reef.
Diving:
Pure snorkel does not offer any scuba diving. It is purely a snorkel boat.
Snorkeling:
Enjoy over 2 hours of snorkeing at one of the many outer barrier reef sites from Cairns. High quality snorkel equipment is provided like snorkel, fins, mask, lycra suits, life jackets, and pool noodles.
The crew will give a detailed snorkel briefing, explaining all the equipment and where to find the best marine life and coral at each site. With a selection of over 15 different sites to snorkel, the skipper will choose the best site for that day based on the weather conditions.
Entry into the water is from either the rear step dropdown platform or from the front bow drop down. The crew will direct you how to get in and out for the water.

Remember to try any form of scuba diving everyone needs to be medically fit with no asthma and not be taking any prescription medication. PADI recommends allowing up to 24 hours after diving before flying in an airplane. Some tour operators have a no refund policy for any dives not completed for whatever reason. Please note the art of freediving is not permitted on any of the day boats or liveaboard dive boats from Cairns & Port Douglas. With the high instances of (shallow water blackout) companies do not allow this for safety reasons. It is highly recommended that passengers take out full comprehensive travel insurance for all tours and travel arrangements.
Do you have Medical Issues:
Please note if you have any medical issues you will need to go see your local GP where you live and get them to write you a letter on the practice letterhead signed and dated by your doctor that you are “Fit to dive” If you have one of these letters then all dive companies in Cairns will take you diving. Please note these letters are only valid for three months from their date of issue.
The minimum age to travel on this tour is 6 years or older. Pure Snorkelling is a high-speed adventure activity. For your safety and enjoyment, everyone must be a confident and comfortable swimmer.
This tour is not suitable if you are pregnant or have any musculoskeletal issues that could be aggravated by a potentially bumpy ride. It is also not suitable for anyone with cardiac or mobility issues or for children and adults who cannot swim.
