I came to Cairns to get myself a Open Water Divers license. After checking with Clint on the possibilities, I’ve decided to go to Reef Encounter, because you can complete the theory at home on your mobile phone and then do the practice out in the worlds biggest swimming pool – right in the great barrier reef!
I’ve booked a 3 day/2 night liveaboard tour, and it was just amazing. We started with the easy to learn basics and after 3 days I had my SSI Open Water Diver! We‘ve been around on many different sites, so every few hours you got something new to see.
Inbetween we had freshly prepared food, which was amazing to restore your power!
The crew on “Reefy” was amazing. Thank you all, you made the trip unforgettable. In fact the trip was so great, that I’ve scrapped my original travel plans and came back for another 2 days!
I can recommend everyone to check out this tour and do your licence here, but keep in mind, that the whole course is done in 3 days, so there won’t be much time to relax. You might just add a few nights right after your OWD to enjoy the beauties of the great barrier reef!

Amazing interaction with minke whales. We saw 15 whales and were swimming with them around 2 metres away. Clint is really helpful and let us borrow his camera for free. We got some really nice snaps of a trip we will never forget.

The staff and their professionalism often exceeded expectations.

The Scuba Diving equipment was a first class quality and the Instructors and Diving Masters were only happy to help you with any questions or any problems you could have.
This made my Scuba Diving experience on Reef Encounter very safe and enjoyable.

This was one of the best tours we`ve ever taken. The snorkel and diving sites were awe-inspiring – better than being in the best aquarium of the world. The crew was very engaging as well as informative. Not only did we have the best time, we`ve also learned a lot. Unforgettable experience!
